Introduction-Why I love the Seahawks…
I am a pretty new fan to football, so if you are looking for a die-hard “football stats” blog where I give my “expert” opinion- please look elsewhere. I think I am about as far away from expert as you can get-but I am a passionate fan of the Seahawks and that is why I started this blog. I may throw in a few stats here and there, but mostly this blog is going to be about my feelings, intuitions, and reactions to the Seahawks games (yes you can have feelings about football ha ha). I love my Seahawks and I will be a loyal fan forever-even though I got a late start. I am a 28 year old female and a teaching student, and I live in Bellevue, WA (just to give you a background). Here is my story of why I love the Hawks:
2003 San Antonio, Texas:
My love of football happened over the last five years. Back in 2003 when I lived in San Antonio, TX-I would accompany my ex boyfriend to a sports bar called” Dave and Busters” (they don’t have em in Seattle) to drink beer and watch the Kansas City Chiefs play. The Chiefs were pretty good in 2003-Priest Holmes was playing, and Dick Vermeil was the coach. The Chiefs were first in the AFC west in 2003 but then lost in the playoffs (ha ha).
Anyways-I got so sick of hearing the ex brag about his Chiefs and put down the Seahawks (even though at that time I didn’t really follow them) that I decided I would learn about football and follow the Hawks just to spite him. I know that is not the greatest reason to love a team-but it was my reason
! I was also really homesick down in San Antonio-so watching the Hawks play on Sundays kinda connected me to Seattle. And while the Seahawks weren’t fantastic in 2003, they did go 10-6 which was a big improvement. I moved back to Seattle in June 2004 and the saga continues…
Seattle 2004-Present
I live for football season. I get horribly sad for a few weeks after the super bowl and then I try to put it out of my mind cause I miss it so much. Then in August I start letting myself get excited about the football season ahead. By the first game of the season, I am SO beyond excited and nervous that it is not even funny. My boyfriend Dave and I plan out where we will watch the game (very important), which of our newly acquired fan gear we will wear, and just make a day of it. Football Sunday is a day I look forward to all week. Dave is a Patriots fan, but that doesn’t cause too much of a conflict between us. He just needs to accept the fact that I will never convert to a Patriots fan-that would be a betrayal!
More to come…
I am really looking forward to watching them play the Steelers on Sunday-as I am not over the super bowl loss yet. I am watching the game at my friend Amanda’s house, and it should be a good one since Amanda’s husband is a die hard Steeler’s fan! I will get back on here next week and use this blog to talk about Sunday’s game.
